On Aug 22,2022 the Flames gave Montreal Monahan and a 1st round pick (2024 or 2025)
That gave them 6.25 M cap room that they used on Aug 18 to sign Kadri to a 7 x 7 deal.
Going into this game 29 year old Monahan would be the Flames #1C with a cap hit of 2M on a one year deal and 33 year old Kadri has 6 more years at 7M
The draft pick the Habs get could 2024 if the Flames finish in the top 12 of the league. (not very likely)
BUT if Calgary does not have the first OA pick in 2025 the Habs get their pick .... Tank in 2024 NOT in 2025
