However, I dislike the route of going public with a trade request, particularly when it sounds like this all unfolded rather recently. I don't think it's too much to ask a player and his agent to give an organization time to make a move before trying to force their hand publicly. There's plenty of guys around the league on expiring contracts every year and you don't see them all crying about it via their agent. Now it's an unnecessary distraction and takes leverage away from management in a trade. So from a fan's perspective it sucks. I do hope for his sake he finds a longer term fit somewhere for his family. |
If he didn't have a big hit and a goal in that Toronto game, I doubt the trade request would have been made public. He had a big game in the biggest NHL media market, so his agent thought it was a good time to tell everyone that he is available. It was a dick move for sure to spring this up now and totally selfish. It shows a lack of respect to management, his team, and the fans.
Zadorov was one of my favourites as well, but he can get lost now.
