It isn't so bad really - 1.35 million a year. League minimum is 775, and Reaves is arguably a top 2-3 tough guy, so he gets a bit of a premium. It is just funny that he got a 3 year deal when he is already 36 (and turning 37 in January). That's hefty premium to pay, but it is only 575K on your cap hit if you send him down. Not the end of the world, but I wouldn't mind bringing him in as a 13th forward IF the Flames are tearing it down to protect the kids - if the Flames are going to be compensated for it (1st is probably too much, but I wouldn't take less than a 2nd round pick).

Ryan Reaves has brought negative value to the Leafs. No one is intimidated by him because he's too slow to catch anyone.
