I'm not much of a movie guy myself, but I did watch one with my sister and her husband over Christmas that I liked.
Collateral which features Tom Cruise ('Vincent' the contract killer), Jamie Foxx ('Max' the taxi-cab driver) and Jada Pinkett-Smith ('Annie' the key witness).

Nothing earth-shattering, just a good movie with decent story line and lots of action.
Best line came when Jamie Foxx rolls the cab on purpose and Cruise says, "Well now that was stupid" and Foxx responds, "Forgot to put your seatbelt on?"
