For the umpteenth time to answer this pretty obvious question: because it's better than Huberdeau.
People aren't clamoring for it because they think it's the best option for the team going forward, nor for nostalgia. It's simply because if they
could swing John for John it would be a less catastrophic next 6-7 years. At least we know what Gaudreau brings in Calgary. We might never get the real Huberdeau.
It's simply picking the better of two bad $10M hands - one that we might be able to live with.
