Like I said I could see Hanifin as a good trading piece but for a contender and not for Philly. I don't mind Konecny or the return posted above, but a third-party team would need to come in to give Philly the assets. There would have to be some serious contractual talks between Philly and Hanifin for Hanifin to consider signing there for 8 years. I think personally if I was Hanifin I would test the waters of free agency, see what team out there would give me the best deal. For Calgary's sake, just focus on getting the best return contending or no contending team, but most likely a contending team. I think Treliving is still going to go for him.

Not sure how it is not a fair comparison. A team that was at the bottom of the standings paid a futures price to add a Dman and also signed an older UFA to a max term deal. Hanifin fits a now and future piece for a team as he is 27 when his contract kicks in. I don’t think they are a realistic target but crazier things have happened than a rebuilding team acquiring a mid 20’s Dman.
