I don't blame people for hating on Huberdeau, but there is an elite playmaker in there just waiting to be unlocked. I know people won't believe me, but he cares about winning. I don't know about Gaudreau as much.
Both players are going to be boat anchors for their respective teams going forward, but I think Huberdeau commits more to all aspects of the game than Gaudreau does. That and he's very loyal. He commits full force to a city and a team.
I think Huberdeau can and should try so much harder, but I also think it's possible he's adjusting to Huska's system the way everyone else is and struggling to have fluidity on offense as a result. It's not like he's the only guy struggling to score.
I just can't get past how Gaudreau left. You saw how stunned Treliving's face was when he had to announce that they weren't signing Gaudreau. He didn't deal in good faith with this team, and I want no part of that again.

I think this is the part that is frustrating with people bashing him.
Sure he is struggling on the ice, heck who hasn't since last year outside of Toffoli.
The guy committed to the city and has been involved in the community and people make it personal saying I hate Huberdeau. I would take Johnny back, the same guy who flew in and out of Calgary like its a camp, and was a ghost in the community.
We haven't made it easy for him to fit on the ice with our archaic brand of hockey.
When the game is getting as fast and skilled as ever we decided it was time to rewind the clock 20 years.
Sutter did the same thing after the lockout. Traded away the younger players, and brought in freaking Darren McCarty because it was time to rewind the clock once again.
