But this will be the 5th year of missing the playoffs, and they are just now bottoming out. It's safe to assume at least 2 or 3 years at the bottom, before they start looking to crawl their way out of the basement. By the time they see playoffs again, it will have been 8-10 years, at best.

You could argue if they bottomed out earlier and started drafting elite players 2-3 years ago, they'd be further along than they are now. Of course nothing is guaranteed but their odds would have been far better.
