I think it makes a lot of sense now why Treliving never pulled the Sutter trigger and brought in different guys. It was never going to work with two guys like him and Tkachuk and Treliving likely knew that you build around star players not coaches.

Treliving had 2 Jack Adam’s winners and 2 coaches that won a round for this team in his 9 years. The guy he inherited in Hartley and the guy who allegedly was forced on him in Darryl. Tree went and hired 3 guys who will never be a head coach in the league again.
Pretty sure we can thank the GM who was put in place to execute a plan and fumbled this teams 2 franchise players. Edwards wasn’t negotiating a 6 year deal with a 2nd/3rd line player in Coleman or gave up a 1st and 2 2nds for a third pairing D who dragged down all of his partners and bounced on the team when given a free pass.
I think it is crystal clear Treliving is who we can thank for this mess.
