IIRC the US issued a warning at the start of this at Lebanon and Hezbollah not to get involved.
The US has two carrier battle groups in the Med, that includes the new Gerald R Ford with at least one guided missile cruiser, 4 Arleigh Burke class destroyers. The Dwight Eisenhower and its strike group that includes a guided missile grouser and 4 cruise missile armed destroyers should have arrived there a few days ago.
I'm sure that the American's have spend a bunch of time mapping out Hezbollah forces and have probably shared that information with Israel.
With the situation the way it is now, I'm pretty sure that the American goal here if Hezbollah starts launching rockets and attacks won't be some kind of ground action.
Iran is pulling the strings here, they want the final apocalyptic battle between the hated Jews and the West and the Muslim world.

I've read that Iran is preventing Hezbollah from entering the war, as that would eliminate their influence in the region. A Hezbollah war right now would substantially decrease Hezbollah rocket reserves and their fighting ability (which may already be decreased due to heavy losses in Syria). Without Hezbollah and Hamas, and a broken down Syria, Iran's influence decreases substantially. Iran needs the threat of Hezbollah's rockets more than they need the rockets actually launched.
