They are paying him that much now NOT to coach the team.
So whatever reasons they had to fire him, they were willing to swallow that.
Which is why whether or not he won a playoff round I don't think would have mattered.

Yeah I'm really getting tired of this Sutter narrative and having to affirm again and again that he wasn't fired due to on ice performance.
And because of that- you can't really imagine a cause and effect relationship between Sutter and the on ice performance this year and last year.
