It would certainly be nice to know a citizen can come to the aid of a downed police officer without fear of legal issues, but I still have a feeling that since a shooting was involved there would be charges ... I'd be surprised if there was a conviction, but I'd also be surprised if there were no charges. But I'm by no means a legal expert and these are only my impressions, so that's why I threw the question out. If someone can clarify this according to Canadian law and/or legal precedent, please do. That was my purpose in asking the question.
