It’s still not enough time - the core of a team needs to grow up together, from the time they’re 18/19. They go to development camps together, they form bonds, they anchor the team.
By the time they get to be 23-25, they’ve played with each other for five years or more. They know each other like gloves. They legitimately love each other. You see that in successful teams all the time.
Assembling a team of mercenaries like it’s a video game doesn’t work.
Tkachuk and Gaudreau were the centre. With the centre gone, they expected Huberdeau and Lindholm/Kadri to be that new centre.
They’re not.
When the centre collapses, the circle cannot hold.
The collapse we’re witnessing is pure physics, and out of the inevitable explosion, new stars will form.
