I just wish those contracts were a couple of years shorter, especially Huberdeau. Eight years means he could actually still be hurting the cap once they are trying to re-sign players we haven't even heard of yet. Even if the cap grows, he will be a comparable percentage to what Lucic was last year.

But your point is a god one. If he is on a 5 year deal, this team might be focused on how to get out from under it, as well as Kadri. Right now, they must realize that is impossible.
