There was some initial bluster from CC about wanting guys who wanted to be here.
But three other guys (11,28,55) who seemed the most upset at the coach last year, sat on the fence all offseason, unlike Toffolli, about committing, allowed to by the Flames, and none of them so far look rejuvenated. Was that a miscalculation?

Backlund is the only remaining Calgary Flame to have ever played with Jarome Iginla. He signed a team friendly deal and is captain. Zero issue with that.
Lindholm and Hanifin have so far done nothing that will tank their value at the deadline.
Markstrom is well on his way to rebuilding his value - he has two years left after this, and his contract is reasonable.
They won’t be anywhere close to a playoff position this time.
Toffoli was a support player, and they turned him into bigger faster younger player who will be here for at least two years and can always be traded for something else.
I just don’t get how this board can be so down for a rebuild, and then be outraged when this paper tiger of a roster doesn’t lead the division 10% through the year.
Guess what? This roster is drafting top-10. Probably top-5. Because they have no elite players and none coming soon (even if you like Honzek and Morin - they’re not going to be elite in the next two years).
