I don't ever recall this team being booed 8 games into the season, and only the third home game. Am I forgetting another time?
I find myself getting nostalgic over the 90's 'Young Guns' Flames. At least that team had some jam, and provided some entertainment.
I actually wrote a long post here, but deleted it. It doesn't matter. John Bean can have another cringy presser saying Oileresque nonsense instead. I really do miss Ken King.
I feel sorry for Conroy. There is absolutely nothing that he can really do about this right now. I am sorry, but it is blatantly obvious that Treliving was a poor GM. Conroy has his hands tied. Even if he got ownership to buy-into a rebuild today, he can't announce it this early in the season. This is going to be a long and difficult time for him as a GM at least until it is closer to the trade deadline.
It is starting to feel like a race against time somewhat. Eventually those boos will run out, and when they do, that's called apathy. Fanbases are like nuclear power plants in a way. It takes a while to shut one down, but it can take a long while to start them up again too. You want to just keep things running as best as you can, but putting an incredibly boring team on the ice and telling people it is going to go well is setting yourself up for a meltdown.
There weren't many meltdowns during the rebuild. In fact, people applauded some of those hard-working losses. I remember that. Contrast those times to what we saw on the ice, and heard from the crowd.
