Meier is more of a power forward. Not fancy, but great shot and physical. I think he would fit the Flames current roster better than Huberdeau, even if on paper, Huberdeau has more offensive upside.
If New Jersey could be convinced that Huberdeau would fit their team better than Meier, I would do that trade even if we had to retain cap hit to make it a wash. Would probably have to add a sweetener as well since Meier is 3 years younger.
It's a pipe dream of course. I can't see any team gambling on Huberdeau unless he turns it around fast. I am also not sure if Huberdeau would waive either.
