You had one year left on that contract, he was a fan favourite, and TBH he was probably going to be hurt and on LTIR anyways (which he ended up being).

It's actually quite remarkable the scope and lasting negative impact of the Kadri signing will have on the Flames franchise. An albatross contract taking up valuable cap space for 7 years compounded with losing a valuable 1st round pick is almost worst case scenario. The Flames do have a long rich history of this sort of thing though so I can't say I am not used to this feeling. I mean we are the franchise that traded away Brett Hull, Doug Gilmour, Iginla, Bouwmeester, JS Giguere and Marc Savard for sweet #### all, bought out Martin St Louis.
