I don't think so, the Florida pick is likely to cancel that move out and there is top 10 protection the pick as well. Also, that Monahan trade doesn't stop you from hiring a competent coach and not Huska, doesn't force you to re-sign Backlund, doesn't prevent you from trading Lindholm.
It also doesn't explain why there were reports before that of the club not wanting to rebuild.
The Monahan deal was also much more likely to be a owner driven move as well. Easy to just buy him out and keep the pick but when the bottom line is more important than winning you don't do that.
