The feds are running up in the $500-550 Billion range for debt. The Conservatives have reduced it by close to $25 billion in the past two fiscal years so it's declineing. The Libs were paying it down too but at a slower rate. Keep in mind that if Quebec were to leave Canada, the feds would saddle them with their 'share' of this national debt as well seeing as though a large percentage of it was incurred for Quebec's benefit. So to build on the $16,000 per person figure quoted above, it should be doubled and put on the ballot next to the 'Oui' box.
