Money is almost even $10.5M to the Habs, 12M to the Flames. They have 4 years left each to Huberdeau’s 8 so they cut the term in half but basically add 2 brutal contracts for one. Huberdeau has a better chance of rebounding than the other 2 so risk might be worth it for the Habs?

I would want to make sure we paired it with other moves, such as trading Hanifan and Lindholm, as well as a ton of other mid level pieces as well.
But if the team committed to a rebuild I think that those two would be much easier to move for pieces that could help with that than Hubredeau would and at least in worst case scenario we are rid of the boat anchor contracts sooner.
