I guess the counter argument would be that this is what Israelis believe:
There is no Palestine, there never was. This area was always the homeland of the Jews since time before Christ.
Therefore, all the land belongs to them and they are justified in taking it.
Here's a video about a 65 year old Israeli lady taken hostage by Hamas who was rescued after 20 hours. She served the Hamas group food. One said she reminded him of his mother. She sung them Arab songs and they responded with Hebrew ones.
I mean in these conflicts its easy to dehumanize the other side, but these two groups of people share more similarities than differences. Its easier to harden hearts against an enemy when they are seen as a monolithic group rather than individuals.
