Jonathan Huberdeau and Matt Coronato power play connection could be lethal

A veteran playmaker and a rookie goal-scorer. A player that distributes and a player that makes the distribution worthwhile. What’s not to like? Beyond the Boxscore Weekly: Calgary Flames show two faces in first week of season

The first week of the season is in the books and as such we now have a small sample size of data to work with. Up until now Beyond the Boxscore has only focused on single game outcomes while leaving the summarization of multiple games for the reader to find themselves – not any more. The Wranglers, and others, are off to strong starts: a Calgary Flames prospect update

The Calgary Wranglers began their 2023-24 season over the weekend, capturing three of a possible four points. Dustin Wolf was excellent in one start, and top prospects like Jeremie Poirier, Cole Schwindt and Connor Zary had strong performances.
The season has started in earnest for the vast majority of the Flames’ prospects, and a few of them are off to really good starts.

There is no denying that the Flames are working hard. The effort level is there for the most part. They’ve been doing a good job of creating high danger opportunities, more so compared to last year. But once again they are running into the issue of not being able to bury those chances.
