Watching Memento is a hell of a different experience after you've had a brain injury.
Guy Pierce's inability to make new memories is basically exactly what I have been going through for five+ years (only not to that degree) and after five years of rehab I've had more success with with repetition learning than he (or the bald guy? were they the same person?) did.
So many things were spot on, from retaining all your skills, abilities and memories from the day up to your brain injury, to the waking up and wondering where somebody is (both my dogs died over the pandemic, I have no recollection of the first one dying), to taking pictures and notes of *everything* (I text myself. I'm drowning in ####ing texts to myself), to watching TV shows and not being able to remember episode to episode (usually when I'm not that into it). Uncanny.
Instead of giving the people the "filing cabinet analogy" when explaining my condition, I'm just going to tell them to go watch Memento.
