So, I believe Steinberg has said the Flames made an offer between 8.5-9 per year. I’ve also seen one of our three “local” insiders say the first offer was 8.2 per year. Have Friedman, Seravalli or Lebrun ever put out a specific number? My understanding is that we don’t know exactly what the Flames’ offer was, but I’ve never seen any rumours of anything less than 8.2. Is that fair?
Edit: apparently, Lebrun also said this on Insider Trading: “The reality is, from what we understand they’re still just not close yet on a number… I think the Flames look at the recent extension signed by Scheifele as perhaps something that could be looked at in the talks here with (Elias) Lindholm”
Edit edit: Friedman said this on 32 thoughts on Oct 4: But I don’t get the sense anything is close, yet. And it’s possible Elias Lindholm’s number is going to be higher than I initially thought — in the $9-million range.
It seems likely that the Flames are in the low to mid 8s, and Lindholm is at 9+.
I also remember seeing rumours that clauses, how much if the salary is paid via bonuses were issues.
