Tkachuk was given top 6 minutes since the second he was drafted.
They offered him $10.5M.
The coach didn't want to make him (or anybody else captain). The GM signed him to a $7M bridge coming off a 78 point season, which was still fair.
The Flames had a lot of faith in Tkachuk. He didn't want to be here anymore. If he wanted to be here he's likely the captain making $10.5M per year.
