Dube, at $2.3M, is one of the best values on the team (ELCs excluded of course). He is not, and probably never will be, a top line guy, but he is a good middle 6 guy, especially at that price. As Bingo said, there has definitely been progress offensively though he needs to be a better finisher. And he definitely still has flaws defensively, but you're not going to go out and replace him, at that price.
Steinberg's talk of 8X$6 is of course insanity. But I don't see any reason to chase him out the door at this point. To me, he is one of those middle 6 guys that gets you 30-40 points every year, and then somewhere along the line, puts it all together for a couple years and has like a 70 point season. Then reverts back to 40.
You need guys like Dube. But you have to control the cap hit. Under $4M, he's a valuable player. Over $5M is insanity - you have to move on, at that point.
