I think there's a bit of an indent where those old labels went. When you try to scrape them off you just scratch the crap out of it because it's not perfectly flat. At least that's what I did when I tried. And then when I could see it wasn't working well I doubled down and made it worse and worse. That part is on me.

Heat gun may be a better thing to try. I'm bothered by the outdated labels on my current plate as well, jayswin.
