My point is that repealing taxes that these companies have planned for is incredibly stupid. Business needs some type of certainty. Without carbon taxes ccus becomes unviable. Same for other technology. We're finally getting heat pump manufacturers and installers to begin operations in Canada because of the push the carbon taxes. You can't just willy nilly cancel stuff like that for political reasons.
The effectiveness? Really effective at increasing the cost of living for everyone.

Not really effective at anything else.

This argument is always amusing.
We have market proven ways to reduce emissions.
But we refuse to push in that direction.
Instead we levy taxes onto consumers to increase their cost of living, ability to buy food, pay rent, etc....and tell them its for their own good. At the same time corporate energy companies are driving record profits.

One must be pretty delusional to not see how that is the opposite of 'effective.'

I get the heat pump argument. We are installing water to air geothermal in our new facility to do heating and cooling versus propane, and it has zero to do with the 'carbon tax.'
