The Lindholm situation is interesting as it really seems like both sides are grinding to get a deal done before Wednesday. You had to think the Flames had a vision where they afforded all of Gaudreau, Tkachuk and Lindholm so they still must feel like they have room to pay him considering Huberdeau and Kadri are a cheaper combo than Johnny and Chucky would have been.
Lindholm has been here for 5 years and missed 3 games total in that span and at least 1 was being held out for the final game of 2019 when they had the division and conference tied up. He has averaged 72pts and 31 goals per 82 games as a flame and is known as a solid 2 way player who doesn’t cheat the defensive side. The only years Johnny got to 99 and 115 points were when he played the entire season with Lindholm. Toffoli saw a huge career year getting to play with Lindholm for the entire season. I see why the Flames are trying hard to keep him and he is likely one of the safer players to extend into his 30’s. It would be a no brainer if they didn’t have the Kadri contract on the books or Huberdeau looked anything close to a $10.5M player but they do have 33 year old Kadri signed for 6 more years and Huberdeau could be an albatross very soon so it is a delicate negotiation and far from a slam dunk signing at the rumored ask
