I value the 9m in space over re-signing Lindholm.

I am beginning to realize that in a cap world we should be in the mindset of letting someone walk without getting anything in return is far better than just signing a player to “get value”.

Trading an expiring vet at the TDL (if applicable) > Gaining cap space > signing a veteran’s retirement contract.
