And players (AHL and established vets) get signed to extensions all the time during the season. Like it happens a lot actually.

Some of those ELCs or free agent signings, but a lot of them are contract extensions as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had discussions - but if you're Phillips why the hell are you re-signing at that time. Both sides have to agree.
