Assuming I didn't misread something about how long they typically hang out in certain areas, if the article said that there was a notification at 8PM about an attack and the bear was still there at 1AM, isn't that supposed to be considered odd behaviour for a bear to hang out for over 5 hours?

According to this on parks Canada website, 700 ish in Alberta on Provincial land and probably 16,000+ in BC? That's a heck of a huge difference.
