But yes, there are a fk-ton of bears in the parks - populations once controlled by indigenous communities and settlers - but now we can't kill them because their fuzzy ears remind people of their Teddy Bears so their populations are artificially high and competing for limited resources, hence so many run-ins with humans this year.
A cull is coming. There are too many bears with populations kept high because the boo-hoo brigade thinks they're sacred or some other such nonsense.

Bears used to roam the prairies from Alberta to Manitoba. They've retreated to the mountains because we've pushed them out of their space. We have eliminated
98% of their range while we continue to demand more and more space leaving them less. Grizzly populations are not at an artificially high population in any way, WTF are you talking about.
edit: numbers were wrong googled too quickly. either way, a cull would be entirely inappropriate as they're still considered a threatened species in Alberta.
