We have a leash and harness for our cat; usually we just hang it on the doorknob. He was a rescue cat (from MEOW) and loves getting outside. The leash isn't long enough for him to get off the steps so he just sits there enjoying sniffing the air. When is nice out, like the last few days, we don't shut the door all the way so he can come in when he wants (although we still need to take him off his harness).

A neighbourhood cat likes to come by and visit. Our cat will rub and purr any human, but despises any other 4 legged creature (and doesn't seem to realize he can't go though the glass to get at the other cat - he has tried).
