Does anyone know what is causing some of the huge heaves in the concrete curb sections along some roads? I would assume it is related to frost heaves although the one that I have seen recently probably popped up this summer at some point. There are two that I see regularly around my area. The recent one is along northbound Shaganappi just before the pedestrian overpass to Market Mall from Varsity and the other one is along southbound Crowchild beside the University right in front of the UofC billboard. They are large, maybe 12 to 18 inch, perfectly triangular heaves in the concrete but they don't extend at all into the roadway surface.
