You can never take a lot from early pre-season games but that team featured a lot of the Canucks top prospects that they hope can make the team this year.
Raty, Silovs, Rathbone, Klimovich, Woo, Podkolzin, Hoglander, Aman, McDonough.
You wouldn't have expected them to win - but you would have liked to see a bit more of fight for sure.

Made a couple shots that reminded me of the last top end RW we had. What was the most impressive to me was the difference in play and the tempo the team played at. No more ring around the boards and take low percentage shots. This was quick passes and try to penetrate the middle to get high quality scoring opportunities. It was how the team got nine of their goals and it was a pleasure to watch. Would have liked to have seen the defensive coverage in action but the Canucks were so overmatched they couldn't get anything going to where the Flames need to defend.

This.
They held on to the puck and made the extra pass in a lot of scenarios where last year they decided just to fire every puck on net.
They were told "Shot volume, shot volume, shot volume" and that they didn't have the talent to make these plays by the last coach. So nice to see them playing with a bit of confidence yesterday.
