If they think the best development path for Wolf is the NHL full time, instead of splitting with the AHL (I think both are fine), and given where the trade market is... that's the move.
Wolf is the higher priority asset by a mile, so if managing that asset the way they think is best means they have to ship a lower priority asset for a song, that's not bad asset management.

I don't disagree with the logic. However, I doubt they have decided - in the summer - that Wolf is suddenly ready. I would imagine that they are on the same path of working Wolf into the NHL.
Having Vladar to start the season, until we know what Wolf is, and in case Markstrom got hurt, is FAR more valuable than giving him away now, for space and hope.
