The unfortunate part for the Flames is that they could not take advantage of the season where the two main guys they got back made less than the one they sent out while those two were in their prime age range.
I still think Weegar is a really good player and that he will be quite good at this cap number. But he's not a Superstar type big loud flamboyant player like Tkachuck and even Gaudreau was. More of the unsung first pairing type that doesn't get a lot of notoriety outside the advanced stats community. So when both guys play at the top of their game, one will always look better. Even if a guy like Weegars analytics support that he's doing more to help his team win.
