A reminder of Babcock's statement on this. The guy is a liar, weasel and scumbag who will admit to a portion of the story, omit the damning parts, and pass it as normal. He did the same with the Marner incident, he passed himself as a victim of Franzen. And some posters were so quick to believe his words despite his past. He omitted going through a player's phone for several minutes outside of team facilities? Even his resignation note passes himself as a victim of distraction, and has admitted to no wrongdoing.
He fits the very definition of a narcissist

That initial quote was probably a team-directed statement, even though they probably knew there was more to it.
CBJ management i imagine wanted him to say whatever he needed to shut it down immediately when it first broke. Probably hoped no one would probe into further after the fact and that they could resolve things internally.
I'm glad the young players subjected to that BS spoke out anyways.
But I'm willing to bet there are multiple NHL teams that would try to bury an event like that. How the hiring looks would matter more than integrity and doing what's right.
Man am I glad that that old school intimidation #### doesn't fly any more.
