I love how silverchair has evolved and expanded over the years. They went from a 3-piece grunge band to a band whose sound I couldn't explain if I tried.
I'm liking the new album, although it took some time to get into it. There's still a few tracks I don't enjoy (Mind Reader, for example) but for the most part it's really good. A lot of layering, a wide array of crazy instruments, and more of his (IMO) fantastic voice. The whole thing plays like a musical, as did their previous release, Diorama.
I just love how they keep changing and trying to find new sounds. It's very creative.
"Those Thieving Birds" (1 and 2) would have to be my favourite song on the disc, along with the first three tracks.
A good pickup for certain.
