Ya, that Markstrom take isn't very well thought out. If he managed to elevate his 2.92 GAA to his next worst 2.77, we're talking about 9 goals difference last year. If he was able to elevate his .892 SV% to his next worst .904, you're looking at an 18 goal difference.
The Flames don't necessarily need Markstrom to bounce back to his 21-22 numbers, although that would be nice. They just need him to not be the terrible goalie he was last year. He makes a couple more stops and the Flames would have made the playoffs last year.
