Babcock's desire to hold all power over his players & their careers, paired with his willingness to abuse that power in the past, is what makes this situation so uncomfortable.
If Craig Conroy is getting to know new players and asks to see pictures of their families, you don't think anything of it. Totally different though when it's an emotionally abusive coach like Babcock, and if it were me, I'd be entirely uncomfortable with having Babcock learn any details at all about my life outside of the rink.
