Property ownership does not equate being informed, especially on this topic. As Strange has pointed out there has been a lot of information one out and all of it has been on the downside of the proposal. The infringement on Sky Harbor was enough to kill the deal let alone the hundreds of millions it would take to remediate the site for the proposed use. Finding a new location for the buried remains of the landfill and the trucking costs would be astronomical and cost prohibitive to some. Tempe would be fronting too much of the cost and eating too large a share. The Coyotes would’ve getting free land, free remediation, and an estimated half a billion dollars in tax breaks for possibly building 2,000 high density living spaces. The campaign was so opaque that the details were embedded in three special election votes all linked together. All failed miserably as more information was made available to the public and more stakeholders explained their concerns and reasons against the proposal. Tempe dodged a bullet.
