What we know for sure, and I don’t think it matters much at this point but his season is done at any level. Basically start whatever mental and physical rehab that’s needed, work on likely losing weight and improving overall fitness and see what he’s got in the spring. Next spring will be his last shot to be a pro player.

Yeah, we're well past the "I think they're screwing me out of Super 2 status" here. He won't be pitching in the bigs unless he proves he can pitch again in the minors. And he can't do that until he starts pitching. At this point realistically that's next year.
The whole thing is terrible, a high end cost controlled starter is a terrible thing to lose for a baseball team...
