There was just way too much in that movie for it to work. I liked it - really liked it, being a huge Spidey fan and all, but I remember leaving both the first and second films (which easily eclipse this one ... but those were both awesome movies) and I couldn't WAIT to go see it again. I went to each of the movies with my wife, and then started a sort-of tradition where I took my Mom the weekend after. This one, it's like ... I'll be happy to take my Mom, but I'm not super-pumped to see it again. I don't think she'll like this one much at all.
By the way - I understand Peter was a dink to Mary Jane throughout the movie but did anyone else get the impression that she was the one more at fault throughout the movie than him? I dunno ... she rips him a new one for "not listening to her" when his points were valid - he's used to an entrie city - oh and some super-powered nutjobs - hating him ... she runs off to Harry's arms, cheating on him ... I dunno.
I really really don't like the Venom character from the comics - because it's just not a Spider-Man story - but they did OK with it in the movie, and I'd have liked to see the entire plot of the movie focus around that element ... no Sandman. Harry going nuts is fine - that could have been there, too. But there was just too much.
By the way, there was VERY LITTLE Spider-Man in this movie. It was one big cry-fest and I have no idea at all how it cost so much money to produce.
