I find the phone videos can’t give you any feel for the scale of a show and how the crowd is responding. They sure don’t draw me in. The produced videos are what sucks me down the rabbit hole for hours because of the multiple angles, helicopter/drone footage, perspective from the band, etc.

For example, stumbled upon the INXS concert from Wembley ‘91 the other day. I’d passed it over a few times since it’s so old I figured it would suck, but was bored so hit play. Turns out it’s remastered and in decent quality. Opens from behind the drummer, looking out over 75-80k… yeah, pretty cool. They start with a middling song (Guns in The Sky), not my favourite but the crowds pumped, I’ll keep going. Second song is New Sensation, which I figured was a somewhat upbeat song…. Crowd goes insane! Mass of humanity Screaming, jumping, fist pumping, etc. with the cameras picking it all up. Gave the song a whole new energy, and you can tell the band is feeding off it.

Completely different experience if it’s a single perspective from a phone. Those may take the individual back to what they felt when they were at the show, but is kinda like showing your vacation pictures… yeah looks like you had fun, but why should I get excited about you having fun?
