The Kings have shown that you can build up your roster with young talent and still have that guy factor into the next core and be an effective 200 ft leader for the kids and get back to perennial playoff status.
I see the same potential with Lindholm.
You just want it to be at a reasonable cost that you can work with.

The Kings had Kopitar, Quick and the one of the greatest dman of his generation on contracts longer than 3 years in 2019 when they started their partial rebuild. Those two players made up 33% of the salary cap at that time in 2019
The Flames have players of definitely lesser historical ability that are older and signed longterm. The Flames players (assuming Lindholm signs for 8.5) have 4 players signed for more than 3 years make 44.5% of the current cap. The Flames definitely have more older players locked up longterm than the Kings ever did. The flexibility the Kings had allowed them to rebuild quicker than one would normally expect.
