It does make me feel nervous how old the Flames’ core will be. I’m guessing if the Flames sign Lindy for 8 * 8.5, the Flames will probably accomplish nothing during the Lindholm, Kadri, Huberdeau, Weegar era. They aren’t good enough to compete now, and the team will go downhill as the core continues to age.
I guess I should say that I think regular season success without playoff success is worthless.

Just because there has not been an NHL team that has had success with a core in their 30’s does not mean the Flames cannot be the first to accomplish it. Worst case scenario is they meander around mediocrity from 24-26 and then suck from 27-30 and then hit the 2030’s running.
