There's lap timers/ 0-60 timers and 1/4 mile timers built right into the car. I think it's part of the performance pack, but might be on all GTs. Timer starts as soon as the real wheels start spinning.
I hear you on AWD, but with all of the cars I have driven over the years, and it's literally thousands, the feel RWD performance cars just can't be beat. The sketchiness and fear they give you is exhilarating.
Best example. I took a GTR on trade a couple years back. It was fast, cool. It handled awesome, cool. But it was so easy to drive it was 'boring fast.' It's kinda like playing Doom on 'I'm too young to die' mode. Fun on the first playthrough, but that's about it.
Everything is so damn fast and so easy to drive now, throwing away a few 10ths of a second and a bit of lateral G's to get your blood pumping is well worth the penalty. Because a car waving its tail all over when you launch, or one that can be throttle steered on a cloverleaf FEELS way faster, even though it isn't.
